Introduction to Computers

This class is a basic computer class that is designed for those who are afraid of the computer. Students can expect to learn how to use Windows, Microsoft Word, access the Internet and set up and use email accounts, etc.
Introduction to Mental Health
Instructor: Peter Angelos; B.S. Psychology, Master of Social Work (M.S.W.), L.I.C.S.W.
This class is for people who are interested in mental health issues or are interested in a career in mental health. Definitions and concepts of mental health will be explored. An overview of diagnosing a mental health problem via the exploration of specific disorder-related symptoms and various methods of treatment and models of recovery will be presented. Differences between mental health disorders and other disorders will be explored.
Nutrition
Instructor: Isaac Adeyemi; B.S. Biochemistry, Biology, M.Ed.-Secondary and Adult Education
In this course students will learn different ways of maintaining good health through proper nutrition and exercise. Students will also learn about holistic ways of treating common health problems.
Scrapbooking
Instructor: Brenda Blais, "I Remember When" consultant and certified Xyron instructor
In this class, students will be introduced to the basic tools needed, how to use them correctly and some beginner techniques. Students will also learn how to matte photos, use paper punches, stickers and other types of embellishments, etc.
French for Beginners
Instructor: Sue Hart; A.B. French, M.A. French Literature
This is a course for true beginners in French. Students will be doing mainly oral work. Homework will emphasize the written aspects of the language. Students will learn introductions, how to tell time, use numbers to 100, and how to ask and respond to simple questions.
ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages)
Instructor: Jeanine LaValley, RCP ESOL Teacher
Two classes of English will be offered - Beginning/Low Intermediate and Intermediate/Advanced
In the Beginners/Low Intermediate level, students will learn the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Students will practice conversational English from basic greetings through simple discussion. Students will also have reading and writing assignments to strengthen skills in these areas.
In the Intermediate/Advanced level, students will continue to practice listening, speaking, reading and writing, including conversational English from simple discussions through advanced grammar and conversational skills. Students will also have reading and writing assignments to strengthen skills in these areas.
