Adult Basic and Secondary Education Classes/HSE Prep
RCP’s Adult Basic and Secondary Education Program helps students prepare for the High School Equivalency Test (HiSET). The program has three levels of instruction; Foundations, Pre-High School Equivalency (HSE) and HSE Preparation. All incoming students are tested to help determine the right class level; testing is also done three times a year to ensure students are in the appropriate level. Our mission is to help you succeed in your personal and professional goals. Our experienced, supportive teachers will help students brush up on the basics and eventually master high school skills.
Our program has so much to offer including:
Personal attention in our small, interactive classes.
Experienced teachers who are kind, patient, and encouraging.
An in-house academic adviser who will offer support by helping students solve both academic and non-academic problems
A dedicated team of staff and volunteers to coach you, guide you, and cheer you on.
Classes in reading, writing, math, science, social studies—the basics through HiSET prep – will help students pass the test but at RCP we go further by offering:
Computer training—Web; email; social media; Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Educational and career advising—individual advising, classroom presentations, career fairs, resume-writing workshops, help completing job applications, mock interviews
Class speakers who come in to share their experience and expertise in various topics
After passing the HiSET students can continue to receive guidance. We offer connections to transition-to-college programs, on-the-job training programs, and certificate programs; help completing program applications, and much more. Our students have built better lives for themselves and their families. Some have found better jobs, received promotions, or have gone on to college and started new careers
